About GMSA
The Guyana Manufacturing & Services Association (GMSA) is one of Guyana’s leading private sector bodies, with roots going back to 1967. Originally focused on manufacturing, the Association has grown to represent both the manufacturing and services sectors and today counts several hundred member businesses across the country. GMSA serves as the principal link between local industry and government, advocating for policies that support the growth of Guyana’s production and services sectors, strengthening trade relationships, and helping local businesses meet international best practices. Among its initiatives is the GMSA Uncapped Marketplace, an online platform connecting Guyanese manufacturers and agro-processors with customers locally and abroad.
Summary
Intern will support the Association’s efforts to expand its membership, manage the GMSA UncappeD Marketplace, and strengthen member engagement across GMSA’s programmes. The Intern will work closely with companies within the membership, prospective members, government and non-governmental organizations to support the growth of locally manufactured products and services.
Key Responsibilities
(1) Marketplace Development & Management
- Recruit and onboard manufacturers, agro-processors and producers to the platform.
- Monitor portal performance, user engagement, product listings, sales, and customer activity.
- Work with the Communications team to develop promotional campaigns.
- Provide basic support to businesses using the Marketplace.
(2) Membership Activities
- Assist in recruiting and onboarding new GMSA members across all sectors.
- Assist with Government engagements across all sectors.
- Support with advocacy efforts.
(3) Reporting
- Maintain records and prepare monthly reports of membership growth, marketplace performance, and partnership development.
Minimum Qualifications & Skills:
- Currently enrolled in or recently completed studies in Diploma in Business Administration, Marketing, Management, Sales, Entrepreneurship, or a related field.
- Good organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple tasks in a structured manner.
- Self-motivated, results-oriented, and able to work independently while contributing effectively within a team environment.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to prepare basic documents and correspondence.
- Experience in Microsoft Office Suite; experience with WordPress Editor and graphic designing area assets.
- Willingness to learn, take initiative, and adapt to a dynamic work environment.
