
VACANCY: Trade & Market Intelligence Officer
The Trade Facilitation & Market Intelligence Officer will support the GMSA by combining economic analysis with practical trade facilitation. The Officer will oversee the Association’s Uncapped Marketplace Portal, while conducting economic and market research to strengthen members’ competitiveness.
Responsibilities
The following outlines the principal tasks of the position:
1. Trade Facilitation & Portal Management
- Manage the logistics of running the GMSA’s Uncapped Portal.
- Onboard MSMEs and members to the platform.
- Track and report on portal usage, sales, and export leads to improve performance and member outcomes.
- Support members with compliance on trade regulations and certification.
- Facilitate connections and alliances between MSMEs, buyers, and support institutions to improve market access.
2. Economic & Market Analysis
- Monitor and analyse economic, social, and trade developments affecting GMSA sub-sectors.
- Conduct research on production, consumption, export, and import trends across CARICOM, Latin America, and international markets.
- Prepare policy briefs, market reports, and data-driven insights to guide GMSA’s advocacy and member services.
- Lead the preparation of concise reports, data sheets, and analytical presentations for stakeholders and trade partners.
3. Reporting
- Represent GMSA in trade-related meetings, consultations, and negotiations and prepare related
- Provide technical support to the GMSA Board, Executive Director, and sub-committees on trade and market development.
- Contribute to donor-funded projects through reporting, monitoring, and activity implementation.
Minimum Qualifications & Skills:
- Bachelor’s degree in Economics, Business Management, or a related field
- Strong analytical writing and effective verbal presentation skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite; experience with WordPress Editor is an asset.
- Demonstrated professionalism, time management skills, and ability to maintain confidentiality.
