On July 12, 2017 the Steering Committee of the event comprising of Government and Private Sector representativeconvened an Information Session at the Guyana Pegasus where they met with members of the business community to sensitize them about the event and get feedback. Also present was a representative of Caribbean Export and Development Agency (CEDA) which is providing technical assistance for the event. The Information Session highlighted the benefits and opportunities to local businesses and why they should participate in this event. Businesses were provided the opportunity to discuss expectations from the forum and to offer suggestions for it to be effective and successful.
The“Guyana Investment and Trade Exposition”is expected to be a major biennial business-to-business engagement to contribute positively to export earnings for Guyana, build capacity of local businesses and aid general growth and development of the business sector.
Its objectives are to promote packaged investment opportunities for Foreign Direct Investments (FDI); link export-ready firms to export-markets; create opportunities for foreign investors to partner with local businesses; and to highlight Guyana as a good place to do business.
GMSA’s representative on the Steering Committee and one of the key persons involved in the planning of the event is Mr. Ramsay Ali, 1st Vice President of the GMSA. In addition to the Agro-Processors Expo scheduled for October 2017 and which is a GMSA initiative, this is yet another collaborative effort between the GMSA and the Ministry of Business to showcase Guyanese manufactured products.
The GMSA encouragesits members and local manufacturers and producers to mark this event on your calendar and to participate fully.
