The Guyana Metal Recyclers’ Association Inc. (G.M.R.A.) is a national Association that represents an industry dedicated to the efficient removal of recyclable material namely, ferrous and non-ferrous metals.
“Keeping Guyana Green and Clean” represents the mission of the G.M.R.A. In keeping our mission we strive to meet three major goals.
- To keep our environment clean.
- To ensure that best practice are the standard for industry operations.
- To advocate for the best legislative framework for the efficient management of the industry.
Our core values are unwavering honesty, high integrity and respect for each other. We abide by a code of conduct which commits members to the highest degree of business ethics and we are the public stakeholders and members’ complaint authority. We serve as a repository for industry statistics.
The scrap metal industry creates jobs for both skilled and unskilled workers which add up to approximately twelve hundred (1,200) persons. Our industry also creates space and contributes to a clean and healthy environment by getting rid of the scrap metal in an environmentally friendly manner; especially when taken in context of the Low Carbon Development Strategy which is being stoutly promoted by our country.
